Each bride is unique. They bring their own style and no two weddings are ever alike. The one thing that is truly ties them all together are the trends.
In 2011, I saw many brides sticking with a particular color scheme and introducing new ideas to a traditional day. Many more of my clients are including the Revealing as part of their day and less are waiting to see each other until the ceremony. The cake isn't only a cake anymore, it's ice cream, cupcakes, or doughnuts. Here are some of my favorite trends of 2011.
Purple to Yellow and grey
The majority of my clients loved the purple! This color is a great for fall weddings, the purple just pops in front of changing leaves. Consider warmer colors as an accent, like yellow or orange. Chocolate brown is also a great choice for the fall.
I love the yellow and grey trend. If I were a 2011, that would have been my first choice. These are great colors for spring and summer, but actually a great way to warm up those dreary fall and winter days.
Several of my clients took up the travel theme for their wedding and each did it in a very creative way. I loved the textures and primitive style. These weddings were really fun to capture the details
I'm hearing more and more couples opting out of the traditional cake, and replacing it with other goodies! If you don't like cake, why not make your wedding your own and add something you both like!
Vintage inspired accessories
I'm seeing less and less pearls and more DIAMONDS and LACE!
Simpler Bouquet and Centerpiece Arrangements
More wildflowers were popping in my brides bouquet. I'm definitely a believer that simple is beautiful and I love the informality of it all.
Typically you'd see the accent colors in the flowers but now beautiful white flower arrangements in colored vases have added a elegant twist.
Other things I'm seeing more and more of:
- Suits instead of tuxes
- All the bridesmaids in different dresses, even in different shades of the same color
- Flowers instead of veils. For the majority of my brides who were wearing one said that a family member guilt them into wearing it.
- Combining the father/daughter, Mother/son dances
- No dollar dance, or replacing it with a dollar dash
- Monogrammed jewelery or inside the dress
- The couples name, "Love", or the wedding date on the bottom of the shoes
